“This is the hardest Bush has worked since that time he tried to walk home from Mardi Gras”

Great piece on Tina Fey from The New Yorker . Read the whole thing through because about 3/4 of the way through it gets really interesting. She's not just the funny girl in school who made you laugh because she had a mouth like truck driver. For one, she sounds kind of serious and two, she's in some crazy kind of psychotherapy. For example, "she has been systematically imagining—and rehearsing—a knockdown fight with terrorists." It gets better from there, trust me.

This is just plain awesome. Tell me, how come the girls at the school knew exactly who he was and the cops didn't?

new issue of the spitkronikle up.

quote of the day

"you ask for sweats, you get sweats."—Happy Pat

guaranteed summer blockbuster

alien vs. predator

what are you doing on halloween? the good folks at beinghunted are having a party. the avalanches are d.j.'ing. what more could you ask for?

ohh i think i got it...

strange coincidence that i started reading "Interpreter of Maladies" by Jhumpa Lahiri today and she just happened to be on charlie rose tonight. she was talking about her new novel "The Namesake" and it was pretty interesting. it seems like there's a new generation of authors now writing about the experience of being the first generation growing up in america from immigrant parents. only unlike the authors who were writing about growing up in irish or italian families a few generations ago these authors' works come from slightly more exotic places like india (Lahiri) or greece (Eugenides with "Middlesex") or a mix of jamaica and india (Zadie Smith with "White Teeth" (although that took place in england)).

i DID have to sit through REM before Lahiri and 2 words for michael stipe: "NICE MAKEUP". what the fuck was that coral blue shit on his face? he should be playing shuffleboard down in boca raton with that crap on. michael you are old, get over it. you can't distract anyone with any wacky tricks, we still will think "christ he's getting fucking old" when we look at you. what happened to the fresh faced young lad in the "So. Central Rain" video?

oh and my islanders...tsk tsk. 3 unanswered goals in the 2nd period? and by the time they started to start playing again Fleury was playing too good between the pipes. this kid may be the real deal, and only 18 years old!

i've tried to ignore it, but i think i may have to take back all the shit i've talked about Outkast (at least temporarily) because "hey ya" is just too damn good. god bless the itunes music store, ¢99...brilliant.

please, for the love of god, download "Joy.Discovery.Invention" by Biffy Clyro off of the beggars banquet site. it's so fucking good, i hope they play the u.s. soon...

SO not hot right now:
1. chain letters on the friendster bulletin board. you got to cut that shit out or at least save it for email so i can delete it easier.
2. those big moccasin looking boots all the ladies in soho and the west village are wearing. you're not an american indian foraging for food. TAKE IT OFF!

Mad Mike disease afflicts ex-Isles Part 2

way to go ziggy!

the sky is literally falling

anyone else read this?
"It produced a particle cloud 13 times larger than Earth and hurtled through the solar system at more than 1 million miles per hour." since when is the sun green? that's some Matrix-y looking shit.

shutout

well, i guess i can't complain about being shutout by the devils because that save by Brodeur in the first period on Shawn Bates was insane. while he may be suspect off the ice (an affair with your sister-in-law???) on the ice he is no doubt an amazing player. that was easily one of my top 3 saves of all time. right up there with Hasek on Super Mario in the '91 stanley cup finals. isles play Lemieux again tonight. hopefully they can beat up on them like they did saturday night. they really have to finish this month strong since most of the teams they are playing didn't make the playoffs last year.

buddyhead reports that jessica "chicken of the sea" simpson's little sister is hittin' it with carson daily. i guess brains don't run in the family...

there's a new magazine out called Bail that looks like its got a pretty awesome first issue. interviews with jason lee, tommy guerrero, helen stickler (who directed "Stoked"), and a story on Philly's Love park. oh i forgot to mention the mag is art directed by Andy Mueller. sounds great.

I could've made a career out of this title

since about a month and a half of work has been, effectively, killed i figured i'd share these. personally the godfather parody is my favorite but some people "didn't get it".

**props to lisa for the copy line.

Sweatin' for Sean John

at least they ALL don't turn into todd betuzzi's

Mad Mike diesease afflicting ex-Isles
i guess mike milbury doesn't ALWAYS look like a maniac. right now brad isbister for janne niinimaa is looking like a total steal. the isles play the devils tonight. although the devils haven't been playing great lately (first time they are a sub-.500 team since '01) and the isles are coming off a big 7-2 win over the pitiful penguins the isles DO have a penchant for coming up weak after big wins. i guess it will be a toss up as to which goalie will start for the isles.

Some great design work

Before the football match between Argentina and Brazil, an Argentinean condom company came up with this ad to show the Brazilians what they were going to do to them... But Brazil ended up winning and their football club came up with the second ad in reply.
