strange coincidence that i started reading "Interpreter of Maladies" by
Jhumpa Lahiri today and she just happened to be on
charlie rose tonight. she was talking about her new novel "The Namesake" and it was pretty interesting. it seems like there's a new generation of authors now writing about the experience of being the first generation growing up in america from immigrant parents. only unlike the authors who were writing about growing up in irish or italian families a few generations ago these authors' works come from slightly more exotic places like india (Lahiri) or greece (Eugenides with "Middlesex") or a mix of jamaica and india (Zadie Smith with "White Teeth" (although that took place in england)).

i DID have to sit through REM before Lahiri and 2 words for michael stipe: "NICE MAKEUP". what the fuck was that coral blue shit on his face? he should be playing shuffleboard down in boca raton with that crap on. michael you are old, get over it. you can't distract anyone with any wacky tricks, we still will think "christ he's getting fucking old" when we look at you. what happened to the fresh faced young lad in the "So. Central Rain" video?
oh and my islanders...tsk tsk. 3 unanswered goals in the 2nd period? and by the time they started to start playing again
Fleury was playing too good between the pipes. this kid may be the real deal, and only 18 years old!
i've tried to ignore it, but i think i may have to take back all the shit i've talked about
Outkast (at least temporarily) because "hey ya" is just too damn good. god bless the itunes music store, ¢99...brilliant.
please, for the love of god, download "Joy.Discovery.Invention" by
Biffy Clyro off of the beggars banquet site. it's so fucking good, i hope they play the u.s. soon...
SO not hot right now:
1. chain letters on the
friendster bulletin board. you got to cut that shit out or at least save it for email so i can delete it easier.
2. those big moccasin looking boots all the ladies in soho and the west village are wearing. you're not an american indian foraging for food. TAKE IT OFF!
